Making the Kyoot Scene

I was packing this morning and Fat decided to find a spot for herself in my suitcase. silly cheetah! Here’s a quick peek at the new stuff we’ll have at the Expo booth in 2 days!!! A new Fat Cat design and A new Pudge the Pug design!! Each comes in a t-shirt, messenger bag and apron!

I couldn’t wait for Expo. So we’ll call this a little sneak peek! I’ve been promising for a while to bring back Pudge the Pug. The big issue there was that I was having trouble redesigning him. The original design was very solid and simple…really not very movable at all. Breaking from that was the first hurdle. Second, he is based off a real pug I had growing up and everything I put to paper or tossed in my head just didn’t work right…it wasn’t Pudge quite yet. I had a nice break through for one of my webcomic posts and that started things ticking in the right direction. Then I sat down and brought some of my thoughts into the computer for the special Earth Day Wallpaper this year. He was looking better! Finally the other day I got the idea for this design — and it was perfect. If you’ve got a pug, you most likely know that they do a LOT of sleeping and most of them snore. Pudge would crash on the couch on my mom’s pillows quite a bit so that’s where the idea came from.  So without futher adieu, I give you Pudge the Pug. This design will be available in t-shirt, bag, and apron form at Anime Expo in one week!

Oh! For those wondering, the katakana floating around Pudge  are a common sound effect that denotes sleeping in manga! “Ku/kuu” and “Gu” are often used to signify a peaceful sleeping sound, and “guu” perhaps indicates something a little heavier like a snore.

Ojigi is bow in Japanese…though in retrospect I probably should have done ojigi wo suru which is the verb/action of bowing. ah well. This looked better. :p

Confession Time.

I went to Old Navy on Sunday and got a bunch of cute summer tops and stuff…but came to a rather disappointing discovery on the cute shorts front.    I have popped out of my normal size and am not happy about it. :< I’d been in denial about it for a while and my very dear passion for sun dresses and fun summer/spring flowy clothes didn’t help matters as those things aren’t tight! So I’m determined to drop 20 by San Diego Comic Con. The last time I dropped a bunch (close to 100lbs) I had a lot of the right stars aligned. I was in college so I could walk to and from my classes during the day and then exercise (usually a tape) at night. I made some changes to my diet that were more along the lines of common sense. (No more pop, candy, cookies, etc…instead I ate lean protein, veggies, fruit and lots of water. I also snacked in small amounts thru the day.) I peeled pounds off at the rate of 5-7 a week. I’ve been trying to get back to that groove but it’s a lot harder now. I don’t have a bunch of places to walk to everyday first of all. I sit at a desk until I go home at night and then it’s a battle to get motivated. And also…cupcakes. >.< So yes. This is going to be tough.

BUT! I also read a really good and inspiring article in Shape last night. It was an interview with Marissa Miller. (She’s a VS model…and two years older than me!) She works at her body and has done it all her life. “Exercise is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. ” I mean…you look at the gorgeous people in magazines and it seems they don’t need to do anything. It’s in the genes.  But that’s not true at all. It hit me too when running at the park. I see all of these people that “don’t need to exercise” out there sweating and running their butts off. But there is the rub! They look the way they do because exercise and taking care of themselves is a part of their life everyday. It’s a lifestyle choice and change they have made and see the benefits from. It’s good to have a goal and something to aspire to, but getting discouraged because thus-and-so-can-eat-whatever-they-want-and-not-gain-a-pound does nothing to help ME lose weight. I’ve got to do what’s right and works for me.  And most importantly, stick to it.

And so today is my Day 1. If things go well, (which I certainly hope they will) I’ll start counting the pounds lost on my twitter. My goal is to be happy with the way I look and feel. In the end, this isn’t tied to a certain size or number of pounds. I’m not starving myself or denying myself the things I love to eat. Cupcakes and ice cream are a reward to be enjoyed at reasonable intervals. Though 20 is my goal now, I know that number is going to get me back into the range where I am comfortable and confident with myself. When I reach that goal I can start fine tuning.

And besides. I fully intend to use this as an excuse to sign up for some Happi Paper dance classes. Because he needs to learn some new moves. ね?

IEEEEEEE!!!!! they came today!!! And i didn’t have anything here to finish them because I didn’t think they would be here today. O_O But YES!!!! Finally! Happi came out so well!! And Momo!! I could wait to show them so this is a preview featuring just the charm parts of the final necklaces. Please let me know what you think!!!

Alright! Now for the Deets!

Mini and Ookii Momo Necklaces
There are two sizes of Momo, a mini and an Ookii (large) size. Mini Momo measures approximately .75″ from chin to ear tips, and 1″ cheek to cheek. Ookii (Large) Momo measures approximately 1.25″ cheek to cheek and .75″ from chin to ear tips.

Happi measures approximately 1.75″ from toes to the tip top of his TP, and 2″ from arm to arm (he’s such a fatty)

Each necklace will be finished with a sterling silver chain — the final necklaces will be around 18″ in length set to fall right in the center of the upper chest…(right below where the collar bones meet so it’s not a choker, but not really long and dangly either.) I’ve found this length to be pretty near perfect…I’ve got a stainless steel frog necklace I’ve been wearing forever and it falls just about the same and works with every neckline of shirt or dress that I’ve got. Though if you’d like to have it shorter or on an adjustable chain you can just email or note me!

I’m also working on more colors, and materials! These acrylic neckalces will be around $10-15 each and come in a protective sleeve.

Also coming soon will be Happi and Momo necklaces in brushed stainless steel. (They’re taking longer to perfect though so watch here for more announcements and progress shots.)
