Oh man. Alright, so I’m done with Month 1 of the Insanity workout. >_< I’m really nervous about this new level of craziness that is set to begin on Monday. :/ I’m sure I’ll get through it though. Month 1 was good, and really difficult, but I enjoyed the challenge. I’ve definitely gotten stronger and increased my endurance. I think my least favorite segment was the one with all of the power jumps. I think it was Plyo? On the bright side, I can now DO power jumps. I couldn’t before. My push-up form is also greatly improved. So given that, I think much progress is being made on one of my resolutions for 2011. *^__^* The others are also coming along.
Right now I’m working on the revamp for the BeKyoot booth for 2011. I’ve got to design and unify several new elements and such, which will be a fun new challenge. We will have the Berry plushies in March so I’ve also got to work on realistic ideas for the Berry patch. I can’t wait. I’ve also got several others in the works including the elusive Momocheet Cupcake plushie and Evil Landlord plushies. I need to get my new 2011 t-shirt designs lined up as well. We’ll be cycling the 2010 designs out very soon. I’m super excited because I’ve got a really neat idea for a new/different line of shirts. They will be aimed more at guys, but could also work on chick shirts. It’ll be different than my normal cute theme, though it’ll still have some cute incorporated.
This is where I mention redesigning this blog for the x^10 time. Except this time I’m actually going to do it, and am aiming the new site launch to be around the 100th wallpaper posting that I have coming up.
I realized the other day that I haven’t done a music post in a while. I’ve been seriously jamming to Florence + The Machine and a couple others that I’ve picked up recently. I’ll go ahead and hide the video spam below the cut, though…let me assure you it’s quite worth the click. *^___~*
Later this month (on the 30th!) I’ll be taking part in the Houston EP5K in order to raise funds for the Sunshine Kid’s Foundation. This organization focuses on bringing fun and special activities to children with cancer. Their mission is to help spread the joys of life and help make a child’s battle with this horrible disease a little easier. In keeping with that theme I’ll be running the race as Happi Paper! O_____O It’ll be my first official “run” in costume. I normally run 3 miles no sweat, but in Happi is another question. I just hope it won’t be raining. Anyhow! Happi needs sponsors!
If you or anyone you know would like to help this great foundation out, please go to Happi’s Donation page and make a contribution! Any amount is welcome and very appreciated! *^____^* Spreading the word, linking, retweeting etc is also very awesome and a fantastic help!
Depending on how things go, I’ll be live tweeting from the course (or someone else will be since I’ll be in costume and can’t really tweet when I can’t see my hands ) and there will definitely be video!
I’m always listening to music while I work. It’s a pretty integral part of my process, to the point where opening my music list is part of my daily boot-up routine. I always keep my eye on the top charts to see what’s new, but my mixes sometimes run in seasons, like now. Maybe it’s the warm sunshine or the saturated colors of summer dripping through the air, but I felt it was time to find some new stuff to jam to and came along quite a few new artists that I really like during the past few days of hunting.
Below are some of my favorites from the resultant summer list. Most are pretty new (to me), but I’ve also thrown in a couple old favorites that really signify an upbeat and fun summer sunshine feel. The audio on the Bee video isn’t the best – I’d suggest giving it a fresh listen on itunes or something else that doesn’t have that bit of static. It’s a really fun song. There’s an official music video for Electric Twist, but embedding is disabled by the record company. LOL. Alright then. It’s 2010, guys…gotta do some catching up with the times here. Some others that are on my that I didn’t feature here are Katy Perry – California Gurls, Jamie Foxx Feat Justin Timberlake – Winner, a good chunk of the Glee soundtracks, and several others.
The Weepies – I was Made for Sunny Days (from the album “Be My Thrill” 2010)
Mumford & Sons – The Cave (from the album “Sigh No More” 2009)
Lena – Satellite (from the album “My Cassette Player” – 2010)
Lena – Bee (from the album “My Cassette Player” – 2010)
A Fine Frenzy – Electric Twist (from the album “Bomb in a Birdcage” – 2009)
I went to Old Navy on Sunday and got a bunch of cute summer tops and stuff…but came to a rather disappointing discovery on the cute shorts front. I have popped out of my normal size and am not happy about it. :< I’d been in denial about it for a while and my very dear passion for sun dresses and fun summer/spring flowy clothes didn’t help matters as those things aren’t tight! So I’m determined to drop 20 by San Diego Comic Con. The last time I dropped a bunch (close to 100lbs) I had a lot of the right stars aligned. I was in college so I could walk to and from my classes during the day and then exercise (usually a tape) at night. I made some changes to my diet that were more along the lines of common sense. (No more pop, candy, cookies, etc…instead I ate lean protein, veggies, fruit and lots of water. I also snacked in small amounts thru the day.) I peeled pounds off at the rate of 5-7 a week. I’ve been trying to get back to that groove but it’s a lot harder now. I don’t have a bunch of places to walk to everyday first of all. I sit at a desk until I go home at night and then it’s a battle to get motivated. And also…cupcakes. >.< So yes. This is going to be tough.
BUT! I also read a really good and inspiring article in Shape last night. It was an interview with Marissa Miller. (She’s a VS model…and two years older than me!) She works at her body and has done it all her life. “Exercise is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. ” I mean…you look at the gorgeous people in magazines and it seems they don’t need to do anything. It’s in the genes. But that’s not true at all. It hit me too when running at the park. I see all of these people that “don’t need to exercise” out there sweating and running their butts off. But there is the rub! They look the way they do because exercise and taking care of themselves is a part of their life everyday. It’s a lifestyle choice and change they have made and see the benefits from. It’s good to have a goal and something to aspire to, but getting discouraged because thus-and-so-can-eat-whatever-they-want-and-not-gain-a-pound does nothing to help ME lose weight. I’ve got to do what’s right and works for me. And most importantly, stick to it.
And so today is my Day 1. If things go well, (which I certainly hope they will) I’ll start counting the pounds lost on my twitter. My goal is to be happy with the way I look and feel. In the end, this isn’t tied to a certain size or number of pounds. I’m not starving myself or denying myself the things I love to eat. Cupcakes and ice cream are a reward to be enjoyed at reasonable intervals. Though 20 is my goal now, I know that number is going to get me back into the range where I am comfortable and confident with myself. When I reach that goal I can start fine tuning.
And besides. I fully intend to use this as an excuse to sign up for some Happi Paper dance classes. Because he needs to learn some new moves. ね?
Woo!! I am SORE.
I started p90x yesterday and was jumping around like a crazy jumping bean! Today is abs and shoulders/back. I’ve got to check my little roster thingie. I am techinically starting today as in day one of my plan thing, but I did the cardio workout yesterday because I didn’t think cleaning and walking around the neighborhood was enough. HA! Yeah. Up until now I’ve been alternating my hour long weight resistance/cardio workout with full runs at the park…I figured I needed something else in there. I’m enjoying the difference so far. There’s a bit of kickboxing in there which is interesting to do especially in my bedroom. I fully expect to make a post covering how I managed to break my ankle kickboxing the wall. These things are life’s gold.
Alright! Massive sketch dump! I’ve got several days worth of sketches to post and that should catch me up on my posts so I can resume regular daily’s on the ‘morrow. I honestly don’t remember what the BIG HUGE BLOG was about a couple days ago. Maybe I’ll remember and get to post it this time! I do, however, have my pixeling tut in the works. I’m trying to make it as much fun as possible while still being educational. I’ve also got an Awesome Tutorial List to pass on to you. These are all the art things I use and have collected over the years.
And now…today’s sketch!
This last one is the BeKyoot ad that will be in this Spring’s Bleech Magazine! Check out! It’s a great mag for fashion tips, life, and fun!
Konnichiwa, minna! I need to get a hiragana, katakana and kanji set for this blog…I used to have the windows language type set thing where you could switch from one to the other but I can’t remember where I got it or what. :…: It was a little task bar thing… >_< drat.
I’m stepping up on a little side project…I’ve decided to enter the CGSociety SteamPunk Myth Challenge. I’m nervous, but I want to do this. If only so I can make some friends and meet people in the CG community. I’ve been a lurker on that site for ages and I think it’s high time to stop being such a wall flower. The theme is to pick a common myth or fokltale and illustrate it in a steampunk style. I’ve got several fun things brewing. My first inclination was to tackle my favorite myth (Eros and Psyche) but now I’m leaning towards others. I might still return to that one yet. I went lurking (of course) in the challenge forum and was totally floored by the entries and WIP so far…XD But everyone has to start somewhere. And this is where I’m starting.
I started a Sprite Tut using Graphics Gale last night and should be able to publish it soon. That is the program I used to make all of the site sprites (my links above) and if you’ve come here from dA, it’s what I used to make my icon there. It’s very user friendly and just an all around fun program. Plus pixel pushing is plain addictive, I’m telling you now!
New wallpapers are in the works based on some of my daily sketches. Special posts for those are on the way. Work continues on the new t-shirts as well as the new line of stationery products and bookmarks. I’m still SO excited about 2009. My ultimate goal is to squeeze everything I can out of every minute this year.
And now, today’s sketches!
Alright. I fell off the horse on the wallpapers. It’s ok. Better things are on the way!
First of all I’ve got a bunch of New Year’s Resolutions that I am determined to keep this year. The first is really simple and fun…at least one sketch/drawing per day. I put minimum time on it at 15 minutes. I really want to keep myself drawing everyday and ramp it up. I’m planning on dumping the sketches here everyday too!
Next is my weight. I’m composing a blog that covers my success in the past and what I’m battling now. It’s funny…I realized yesterday that I’m back in the original mindset that I was in when I first lost it all. It’s like a switch has been turned in my head and I no longer have the room for destructive thoughts that lead me to eating things I shouldn’t (and being lazy and not exercising). It’s a hard story to tell, and even more difficult to compose a plan that can be used by others. I’m considering doing before and afters…but…meh. >_< Looking at the before picture before you get to the after picture is pretty depressing. I might just take it and hide it somewhere and try to deny it was ever taken until I’ve got a nice after pic to frame. That will be written and published in several different parts. I’m going to do a history first, so you can see where I came from, and follow that with what I did, where I stopped, and where I’m going now.
Another exciting development is around Happi! He needs some new dances this year. I’m kind of tired of the Soulja Boy and Beegees routines and so I’m taking requests for new dances! Currently I’ve got an original Carameldansen routine I’m putting together and I’m also learning the Single Ladies dance. If you have anything you’d like to see Happi dance to at conventions, then leave a comment or email me!
