Oh man. Alright, so I’m done with Month 1 of the Insanity workout. >_< I’m really nervous about this new level of craziness that is set to begin on Monday. :/ I’m sure I’ll get through it though. Month 1 was good, and really difficult, but I enjoyed the challenge. I’ve definitely gotten stronger and increased my endurance. I think my least favorite segment was the one with all of the power jumps. I think it was Plyo? On the bright side, I can now DO power jumps. I couldn’t before. My push-up form is also greatly improved. So given that, I think much progress is being made on one of my resolutions for 2011. *^__^* The others are also coming along.
Right now I’m working on the revamp for the BeKyoot booth for 2011. I’ve got to design and unify several new elements and such, which will be a fun new challenge. We will have the Berry plushies in March so I’ve also got to work on realistic ideas for the Berry patch. I can’t wait. I’ve also got several others in the works including the elusive Momocheet Cupcake plushie and Evil Landlord plushies. I need to get my new 2011 t-shirt designs lined up as well. We’ll be cycling the 2010 designs out very soon. I’m super excited because I’ve got a really neat idea for a new/different line of shirts. They will be aimed more at guys, but could also work on chick shirts. It’ll be different than my normal cute theme, though it’ll still have some cute incorporated.
This is where I mention redesigning this blog for the x^10 time. Except this time I’m actually going to do it, and am aiming the new site launch to be around the 100th wallpaper posting that I have coming up.
I realized the other day that I haven’t done a music post in a while. I’ve been seriously jamming to Florence + The Machine and a couple others that I’ve picked up recently. I’ll go ahead and hide the video spam below the cut, though…let me assure you it’s quite worth the click. *^___~*
The Great Scoop Escape!
My next game release is coming closer to completion! “The Great Scoop Escape” will be launched soon…I’m really excited about it, too. Cupcake Bakery was great and a good primer, but I’m ready to start building and creating more in-depth games now. Additionally, CB was just kind of thrown out there as soon as it was done, while this next one will have some fun build-up and artwork surrounding it and its release. You can find clues and follow the story as it is released on the front page of BeKyoot and also on our Facebook.
New Prints, Stickers, and More!
I’m going to start releasing new prints (hopefully) every week. These may or may not coincide with Friday Wallpapers, but I thought it would be a fun way to keep me on my toes and keep the kyoot rollin’. You may be wondering what’s happened to my sketch of the day…it’s still going, but I’ve just fallen behind on scanning and posting. I’ve got a lot of them that I’m turning into new designs as well. Happi and the Fireflies was one of them. I’m also working on getting new products finalized and into production. I’m working on pin and metal jewelry designs along with the launch of the BeKyoot sticker line. So much stuff to do! It’s also time for a major overhaul on the shop so I’m working on the layout and redesign there too. >_< Not to mention a rotating new background for the main site. :-o and a facelift for this blog…XD
Still working on the personal goals…
Still working on the weight. I actually had the courage to step on the scale recently and though disappointing, the reading wasn’t as bad as I had feared. I’m very close to making exercise a habit, which is good. I remember reading somewhere that it takes something like 3 weeks of repetition to make a new behavior habit so…I’m solidly on my way. I had a nasty bump in the road before Sakura Con because I caught the bug that’s been going around. I got rid of it pretty quickly though. It was trippy when I near completely lost my sense of smell. That’s never happened to me before. I usually am the first to smell differences in the room or air so not being able to taste or smell was really messing with me more than coughing up a lung was. I’m back to normal now with full energy. So anyway…speaking of exercise, I’ve got a date with the park and the lovely setting sun that I don’t aim to miss.
Woo! Back from MegaCon and now fully rested and coherent! These are good things. I’m working on the next webcomic, which was delayed from the usual Monday-post due to Megacon, so hopefully that’ll be up soon. I haven’t done a con report in a while and there were so many fun cosplays running around at Mega, that I thought I should do one to highlight my personal faves. But first! A little behind the scenes on how we set up the booth for each con…
Got the banner up and table clothes secured! We love safety pins.
First injury of the 2010 con season! Brought to you by a very large and sharp staple that was sticking out of the table.
Berry Down. He drank too much water.
The Show Hall entrance had several fun things…the Ghostbusters car, the Flintstones car, the Viggo Painting from Ghostbusters 2(?) and the Pikachu-Mobile! I took a bunch of pics and you can see the rest of them in the BeKyoot Gallery.
Now for the cosplay! (after the jump because there are quite a few…XD) read more
I have so much to blog about that I don’t know where to start! Ok!! Well I guess first things first! My blog is a couple days behind Facebook and the main BeKyoot page… and for once dA! Good grief. I’ve got too many blogs. So if you haven’t seen them yet, here they are…the new BeKyoot Plushies!! We have Cupcake Momocheet and Berry Ninja!
It looks like it’ll be the large Berry Ninja, the Mini keychain, and the Momocheet plushie that will go into production first. We are really trying to get them in before Christmas! It’ll be close…I’m just waiting for some final shipping estimates to come in and then we’ll be able to hit GOGOGO and get them into the factory. I’m going to go ahead and put pre-orders up as soon as they are in production that way as soon as the plushies arrive at our doorstep they can ship out. Woo! And that’s not all! Next up is mini (keychain) Happi Paper and a full sized and keychain Samu Rye! Evil Landlord and Fat cat will also be in there. I’m cooking up some really fun designs for each of them. Later Monday night I took the plushies home and got the official stamps from Mo and Landlord on the Berry and Momocheet plushies:
Mo can be such a camwhore. In the past I’ve caught some awesome pics of her and couldn’t believe it when I saw her start to yawn in this pose. Heehee!!!
Meanwhile, Lord loved the Mo plushie…
And wasn’t sure at first about Berry…
The punk was trying to kick him away with her hind leg. Oh! She really does whoof when she’s irritated. It sounds a lot like “hu.” Except more blustery and pompous. So I took a mint mohito gum wrapper and rubbed some of the mint smell on his forehead…
Aaaand she changed her tune. Poor Berry!! This was only a few seconds before she picked him up and shook him like a mouse. And what’s with the leg?!?!!
I just now realized that I didn’t get any pictures of Fat with the plushies. I’m sorry, baby!!!! But it’s so hard to get good pictures of a black cat…XD I know that’s no excuse.
So that’s the plushies!!! Next up….Halloween 2009 Tees!!!!

Candy Corn Mo
- in a fitted chick’s cut and unisex t-shirts (click to enlarge):
I’ve modified the original Candy Corn Mo design and updated it a bit. I’m also very happy with how the Starry Flight design turned out. I originally had them walking/floating through some trees, but the more I worked with the design, the more I liked the image of Momo and Bu flying through the sky together. *^____^* I have only one of these designs scheduled to be printed on bags and am leaving it up to fans to decide which gets the extra prints. You can cast your vote on which one should get the bags (and aprons!) on Facebook or on my deviantArt account.
I suppose if you travel a lot something has to go wrong sometime, right? Standard law of probability? Well, that time was Mini Megacon this past weekend. In retrospect, things could’ve been much much worse…the hotel could have actually burned down instead of being the victim of a massive set of pranks. But it’s still annoying as hell. Anyway. So it’s after 12 Saturday night/Sunday morning and I’m getting ready to go to bed. Suddenly this high pitched keening siren goes off in the hotel room. Kendra and I look at each other and at first don’t realize what it is…then it suddenly dawns on us. It’s the fire alarm! Oh joy. I look out in the hallway and sure enough, other hotel guests are in different levels of disarray peering out of their rooms and looking for someone to tell them it’s a joke and to go back to bed. Then people started to scurry around and others were running down the exit stairs, so we determined it was not a joke and that we should probably go too. It later amused Kendra how calmly I turned and packed my laptop and backpack. She was grabbing things and chucking them in her bag and I was taking stock of my luggage and grading it from most important to least. I think I was ready to go out the door before her too.
So we go out and immediately see a guy running through the parking lot with a sheet wrapped around him. Hahaha!! But not really. It would really suck to be him, and if I hadn’t decided to skip my shower and do it in the morning, I would’ve been in the same boat but also dripping wet. We walked around and decided to leave our stuff in the car and go see if anyone knew what was going on. We heard many people say “It Was Real!!!!!” and that the 5th floor was full of smoke. At this point somewhere around 5-8 fire trucks were pulling up along with paramedics and fire engine support. We walked around the building and looked in all the windows to see any signs of a fire on the 5th. Nothing to see. We did see someone on the 6th floor though…that turned out to be someone’s 90 year old grandmother/mother who couldn’t walk to get out of the hotel. The person with her had just apparently left her there when the fire alarm went off. Real nice. The paramedics got her out and she was ok, though.
An hour wears on and we wander back around to the side of the hotel where the Kyoot mobile is parked. People are taking pictures of the cars along one side. Hmm. That’s weird. What’s going on? We had moved our car from that row to give the firemen easier access to some pumps on the side of the hotel earlier. We found out that someone had keyed the entire row of cars facing the hotel. They had literally walked along and dragged a key over the back of 8-9 cars. I went over immediately to check the back of ours and sure enough — someone had keyed the back hatch and there was a line going across Cupcake to the other side. Thankfully it didn’t cut deep enough to get the paint below…it only cut the top laminate and second layer and in some spots down to the white base. We’re getting it fixed and you can’t see it unless you’re standing right there, but it’s still really crappy. I’m assuming it was a bunch of kids or drunks…they actually drew on some people’s cars and really messed them up. So we did get lucky in that only one panel needs to be replaced and they didn’t decide to draw on multiple spots on the car or the glass. After that the news circulated that it was not in fact a fire, but someone had unloaded an entire fire extinguisher on the 5th floor. Great. They let people back in and I got to sleep some where after 2AM. It was a fun night.
Other than that, mini Megacon was a fun weekend. It was just a 2-day convention this time. I got a picture of Happi Paper sitting on R2D2. I also came up with the start of what could be a really fun new manga. I’ll have to do it in my spare time though as it’ll be very loosely connected to BeKyoot. I’m really excited about the storyline and characters. I’ve got a lot of details to iron out though. I’m hoping I’ll be able to grab some domains and get the comic setup relatively quickly. *^_^* So yeah…this weekend was an adventure and I wish I could’ve slept a few more hours this morning. Maybe running at the park or a nice dinner will perk me up? I hope so..
WOOO. What an awesome weekend! SDCC was awesome and crowded out the wazoo as always. I landed in town on Friday and fought my way through the crowds to the booth just in time to see Megan Fox(meh..) and Josh Brolin (YAY GOONIES!!!) do a surprise signing at the WB booth. At first I didn’t register who was causing the commotion until the announcer was talking about them and people were melting outside the booth. As Charlie Brown would say…Good Grief. I was however, quite please to see the cast of True Blood milling about up in the WB Celebrity Subway Loft. (Every day WB brought in these huge boxes of Subway which looked really good in comparison to the convention center concession grease-between-a-bun or deep-fried-grease-on-a-stick. Lucky bastards.) Anyway… my GOODNESS Eric the Vampire is tall. And quite lovely in that black suit…<3 Not to mention Bill and Sam…oh yummy. Tara and Lafayette looked great…Tara is ripped. O_O holy cow. Inspiration for me to hit the weights for sure! (I don’t know many actor/actress names…I’m sorry… ) Miss Paquin looked great too and they had Charlaine Harris there as well!! That was a really neat touch. She was the first in the signing line. It must be really something to see her books and characters come to life like this and then be thrust into the middle of the fan following and craziness that is SDCC.
This year’s massive WB prop was a giant tumble weed fort from Where the Wild Things Are. Pretty cool! They weren’t pushing many movies I noticed…It was a lot of tv shows and such. OH OH OH. OMG. Yes, that’s right. Saw Joshua Jackson too. Heehehehee. I had the biggest crush on him in the Mighty Ducks. And my friends always called it Pacey’s Creek instead of Dawson’s Creek. So yes! Lots of eye candy this year!
Our next door neighbor was a riot. She had security by the balls and kept bitching at them when WB would clog our aisle. That’s the only unfortunate thing about our placement…when WB has anything going on, people clog the aisle and our booth front becomes the only passable lane. I had several customers and friends get swept away by the crowd while we were talking.
That brings about food for thought about redesigning the booth. I think we can come up with something really fun for the coming conventions. We also met with the owner of a very impressive company that designs trade show displays. Some of the work they had done just blew me away. So hopefully we’ll be able to work with them.
Waaaaai and I was able to get some really cool swag! I was able to snag a Pokeball from the Pokemon booth which they were only giving out to kids.
And also I got the Harry Potter WB swag bag with my boy on it!!!!
In my opinion he should’ve been in Draco’s foreground position but at least he made the bag. I also picked up the SDCC Limited Edition 25th Anniversary My Little Pony!
I wanted the Junko Mizuno one but I’ll have to get it online. I got to see Owly and his girlfirend and gave him a Happi Plushie and he drew a pic of Owly and Happi together! I also got a very special gift from a friend of mine who just returned from Africa! Lots of posters…a signed pic from the voice actor of Charlie Brown (from the tv series). I saw Leonard Nimoy (Spock) at one of the booths as I was running back to mine from Snoopy… And now that I think about it, I don’t believe the giant Jabba statue made it to SDCC this year! O_O I didn’t see him where he usually is! Maybe they moved him..? Anyhow, pics are coming. I took several of Bumble Bee and the camero as well as the Green Hornet car and lots of other stuff.
I think that’s it for now. *^__^* Lots of projects in the hopper and surprises on the way…new products, animation and things in store for the site that I’m really excited about.
Nu illustration です!!!!
I really don’t know what happened…but suddenly the hills were Bunny Menace and they were all over. This was originally going to be an entry into a contest with a dream theme but I could never put my finger on something for Happi to visually dream. Here he is still dreaming, but I think this leaves it more up to the viewer as to what. Regardless of the dream, special things start happening around Happi. I worked for quite a while on getting the water right and am really happy with how it turned out. *^_____^*
In other news, we set out for Baltimore and Otakon tomorrow! If you are going, please stop by the booth and say hello! BeKyoot is at I011 and I012!
I was packing this morning and Fat decided to find a spot for herself in my suitcase. silly cheetah! Here’s a quick peek at the new stuff we’ll have at the Expo booth in 2 days!!! A new Fat Cat design and A new Pudge the Pug design!! Each comes in a t-shirt, messenger bag and apron!
