Insanity and Other Madness

Oh man. Alright, so I’m done with Month 1 of the Insanity workout. >_< I’m really nervous about this new level of craziness that is set to begin on Monday. :/ I’m sure I’ll get through it though. Month 1 was good, and really difficult, but I enjoyed the challenge. I’ve definitely gotten stronger and increased my endurance. I think my least favorite segment was the one with all of the power jumps. I think it was Plyo? On the bright side, I can now DO power jumps. I couldn’t before. My push-up form is also greatly improved.  So given that, I think much progress is being made on one of my resolutions for 2011. *^__^* The others are also coming along.

Right now I’m working on the revamp for the BeKyoot booth for 2011. I’ve got to design and unify several new elements and such, which will be a fun new challenge. We will have the Berry plushies in March so I’ve also got to work on realistic ideas for the Berry patch. I can’t wait. I’ve also got several others in the works including the elusive Momocheet Cupcake plushie and Evil Landlord plushies. I need to get my new 2011 t-shirt designs lined up as well. We’ll be cycling the 2010 designs out very soon. I’m super excited because I’ve got a really neat idea for a new/different line of shirts. They will be aimed more at guys, but could also work on chick shirts. It’ll be different than my normal cute theme, though it’ll still have some cute incorporated.

This is where I mention redesigning this blog for the x^10 time. Except this time I’m actually going to do it, and am aiming the new site launch to be around the 100th wallpaper posting that I have coming up.

I realized the other day that I haven’t done a music post in a while. I’ve been seriously jamming to Florence + The Machine and a couple others that I’ve picked up recently. I’ll go ahead and hide the video spam below the cut, though…let me assure you it’s quite worth the click. *^___~*

It’s Momo Sushi Time!!

Ohhh new products are coming!!! I’m finishing up the design file for this new T-shirt/Apron/Bag set. We will have these at SDCC in less than a week and Otakon just a few days after that. Lawdy. I’m working on more pages for Berry’s Story and I’m probably going to have a horribly cheeky fancomic in there somewhere. I need to find my tablet to do it though.  Maybe not. AUGH! Back to work!

Snowy Mo Tee!!

Yaaaay she’s here! I was so happy with how she turned out! And the snow!! It was difficult to capture until it was suggested that I turn out the lights and just try the camera flash…which worked out pretty well I think! It captured the blue of the shirt quite near to reality. Oh, but her shadowing and how the snow floats all over the shirt…Ieeee!! >.< I know, I know. I made the darn thing so of all people I should know what it’ll look like already, but still…there’s something about seeing it in printed final form that gets me every time. *^____^* You can pick one up at the shop and don’t forget to pick the appropriate shipping if you need it in time for Christmas!

Massive New Products Update!!!

I have so much to blog about that I don’t know where to start! Ok!! Well I guess first things first! My blog is a couple days behind Facebook and the main BeKyoot page… and for once dA! Good grief. I’ve got too many blogs. So if you haven’t seen them yet, here they are…the new BeKyoot Plushies!! We have Cupcake Momocheet and Berry Ninja!

It looks like it’ll be the large Berry Ninja, the Mini keychain, and the Momocheet plushie that will go into production first.  We are really trying to get them in before Christmas! It’ll be close…I’m just waiting for some final shipping estimates to come in and then we’ll be able to hit GOGOGO and get them into the factory. I’m going to go ahead and put pre-orders up as soon as they are in production that way as soon as the plushies arrive at our doorstep they can ship out. Woo! And that’s not all! Next up is mini (keychain) Happi Paper and a full sized and keychain Samu Rye! Evil Landlord and Fat cat will also be in there. I’m cooking up some really fun designs for each of them. Later Monday night I took the plushies home and got the official stamps from Mo and Landlord on the Berry and Momocheet plushies:

Mo can be such a camwhore. In the past I’ve caught some awesome pics of her and couldn’t believe it when I saw her start to yawn in this pose. Heehee!!!

The punk was trying to kick him away with her hind leg. Oh! She really does whoof when she’s irritated. It sounds a lot like “hu.” Except more blustery and pompous.  So I took a mint mohito gum wrapper and rubbed some of the mint smell on his forehead…

Aaaand she changed her tune.  Poor Berry!! This was only a few seconds before she picked him up and shook him like a mouse. And what’s with the leg?!?!!

I just now realized that I didn’t get any pictures of Fat with the plushies. I’m sorry, baby!!!! But it’s so hard to get good pictures of a black cat…XD I know that’s no excuse.

So that’s the plushies!!! Next up….Halloween 2009 Tees!!!!

I’ve modified the original Candy Corn Mo design and updated it a bit. I’m also very happy with how the Starry Flight design turned out. I originally had them walking/floating through some trees, but the more I worked with the design, the more I liked the image of Momo and Bu flying through the sky together. *^____^* I have only one of these designs scheduled to be printed on bags and am leaving it up to fans to decide which gets the extra prints. You can cast your vote on which one should get the bags (and aprons!) on Facebook or on my deviantArt account.

In other News of Awesomeness, I have discovered and become addicted to a new manga. Kitchen Princess. I really like it! And I love that they give you the recipes at the end of the main chapters! The main plot follows an orphan girl named Najika who wants to become a chef to fulfill her parent’s dreams and find her Flan Prince. Standard mushy shojo fare, but darn it! It’s fun! *^___^* It further piles upon my already toppling desire to cook and make my own bento so that’ll most likely be coming very soon. Another series I’m digging into right now is Violinist of Hamelin. I’m watching the anime first and am preparing to be a mess by the end as I’ve heard it’s pretty sad and dark in comparison to the manga.

Today I’m putting up a Free Wallpaper Extra! From the game Gyakuten Saiban / Phoenix Wright. This was done for a good friend of mine who is going to law school soon, so I thought I’d post it here for others to enjoy as well. Kawaii BeKyoot Acrylic Necklaces are here!!!

IEEEEEEE!!!!! they came today!!! And i didn’t have anything here to finish them because I didn’t think they would be here today. O_O But YES!!!! Finally! Happi came out so well!! And Momo!! I could wait to show them so this is a preview featuring just the charm parts of the final necklaces. Please let me know what you think!!!

Alright! Now for the Deets!

Mini and Ookii Momo Necklaces
There are two sizes of Momo, a mini and an Ookii (large) size. Mini Momo measures approximately .75″ from chin to ear tips, and 1″ cheek to cheek. Ookii (Large) Momo measures approximately 1.25″ cheek to cheek and .75″ from chin to ear tips.

Happi Paper Necklace
Happi measures approximately 1.75″ from toes to the tip top of his TP, and 2″ from arm to arm (he’s such a fatty)

Each necklace will be finished with a sterling silver chain — the final necklaces will be around 18″ in length set to fall right in the center of the upper chest…(right below where the collar bones meet so it’s not a choker, but not really long and dangly either.) I’ve found this length to be pretty near perfect…I’ve got a stainless steel frog necklace I’ve been wearing forever and it falls just about the same and works with every neckline of shirt or dress that I’ve got. Though if you’d like to have it shorter or on an adjustable chain you can just email or note me!

I’m also working on more colors, and materials! These acrylic neckalces will be around $10-15 each and come in a protective sleeve.

The BeKyoot Mobile

IEEEEEE!!!! It’s done and it looks SO AWESOME! OMG. I went nuts as soon as the thing came in sight. So perfect! So perfect! And I got the seal of approval from a 5 year old girl about a mile from the pick up point…she was on a walk with her parents, saw the car and started grinning and pointing and then her parents looked and they loved it too. Hehehee. Alright! To the pics!!!

To Acen and Beyond!

BeKyoot is at Booth numbers W364 and W265 right near the signing area!

My winamp is being a brat and playing everything but the music I want to hear. Nuuuuu!  *takes it off shuffle* Alright! I have some pics of the new merch we will be debuting at Acen in two days! And this isn’t even all of it! There’s still the brand new design being printed in shirts, bags, and aprons! For now that’s a surprise though. *^.~*

Dancing Mo Tank

Ieeeeee!!! These came out SO well! I was a bit worried because of the thick rib, but man did it come out nice! The print is crisp and perfect! The color really compliments little Mo too. These do run on the smaller side though. Our regular line of shirts has a bunch of stretch and these are a bit less giving. They are heavier in material too; not see-through at all! I couldn’t be happier with the cut…a cute little racer-back, but not a full on racer…kind of a cross.  The length is long like the regular shirt line as well! There is one other design we brought over to tanks…Celebration Cupcake! She is on a bright pink/red similar to the solar dancing mo tee. I don’t have pictures of that one yet but we will have it at the con!

New Bag Styles!

ZOOOOOOOOOMG new bag style!!! WOOOHOO!!!! I do still enjoy the old bags, but these are super cute and fun all on their own! It’s larger than our standard flap bag with a small interior pocket and an oversized sling strap perfect for a ton of buttons! That was one of the deciding factors for me when I was looking at these bags. They have a ton of canvas for customizing and adding your own touches. The Wings Bag also comes in the soft pink color that Dancing Mo is shown on! Dancing Mo also comes in the khaki/stone color that cupcake mo is on.

As always, we will have a bunch of buttons and also have several extremely popular t-shirt designs fully restocked! Sweet little Balloon Mo is back and ready to rock! I think you’ll also get a kick out of the new design…what’s spring time without a little rain, hmm?

We check every night and multiple times during the day and will pull items aside for you if you can’t make it to the show. I’ll try my best to get these new items up in the shop before the convention as well.

OMG. I cannot get enough of Kimura Keala’s new single Banzai. Good LORD it’s catchy. Give it a listen. I have a feeling Happi Paper might be learning this dance very soon…

I’m working on some new products and merch for debut at Anime Central in Chicago! I’m very excited about our new style of bags and also the intro of a certain very popular design into the bag world. I’ll have a full restock of the very popular Balloon Mo as well as one brand new design along with bags and aprons galore!

With the success of the Happi Paper Plushies, I’m getting ready to send more designs into prototyping! Next up will be Momocheet, Berry Ninja and Celebration Cupcake! I’m also (still *sigh*) working on the character jewelry. I’ve got a new method I like and am trying — much more than the popular shrinky-dink “hard plastic” method. I almost soap-boxed there. Almost. :p But I’m being good today because I’ve got some really good grapes and nothing makes me happy like really good grapes. Except maybe a cupcake.

I’m going to work hard to get my pixel sprite tutorial done this week. I’ve written and revised it several times because it sucked three times over and that just won’t do. I think I’m even going to revise the sprite because it’s just…ugh. I’m not happy with it. I’ve also got until May 19 to work on my entry for Wacom’s Good vs Evil contest that was announced on dA. If you are on deviantart, check it out and think about entering! It looks really fun and the subject is certainly wide enough! I’ve got some personal illustrations I’ve been tinkering with in the evenings too. Very theraputic.

Hmmm what else? Oh!! Shows. I’ve got a crush on Speed Racer. The movie was so much fun! I’ve been watching it over and over on the movie channels. Aaaaand The Tudors! Wow. I tell ya wow. I really want to know if Showtime intends to continue the series after Henry’s death and into the life and reign of Elizabeth. I saw that movie again the other night for the first time in ages. I don’t know if anyone can do Elizabeth like Cate Blancet…woo! I was really sad to see the exit of Jane Seymour in this last episode…I really liked her character and how she was done. The costuming and sets are so gorgeous and well done too. Beware though, The Tudors is pretty explicit and certainly violent. If you are squeamish or really young I would steer clear. In other show gossip, I was also very pleased with the turn on the Office.  Nuff said. Back to work!

New York, New Designs, Freebies and Tuts!

Hahaa!!!!! YES. I’m updating, yo! First of all, I could’ve sworn that I posted this before I left…the Fishy Mo Wallpaper!

I also have a monster of a sketch dump covering the past few weeks of daily sketches! Woo!! But not yet. *knowing eyes*

New York Comic Con was fantastic! Gosh but it was cold! I’m not used to this stuff anymore! But on the bright side I was able to have a kickin’ cup of hot cocoa every night! one night they even gave me extra whipped cream. I wish I had had more opportunities to walk around, but instead I had quite a bit more Happi time, which was loads of fun! Especially on Kid’s day! There was this one little girl that fell in love with Happi and just wanted to stand there hugging him. Her parents finally dragged her away but she wasn’t pleased about it. *^_____^* My heart was stolen over and over again by those little guys. I realized as I was taking pics with a group how much my new exercise regime has helped me. I was in effect doing a yoga chair pose for pictures with most of the kids and had to hold it sometimes for quite a while. Not easy. My jumps and other moves have gotten better too! I’m still working on new dances. But yeah…what a way to start off a new season of conventions!

Next up is Megacon in Florida. We were originally scheduled to do both Wondercon and Megacon, but due to some events, our Wondercon team cancelled out. Big bummer. We are still on schedule to have plushies in stock by the 27th. There’s been one minor modification to his build and it was for the better. He originally had a hard tube inside him that made the toilet paper hole more rigid but in hug-rospect…not quite as squishy and hug-able as we would’ve liked. So we took it out!

Hmmm…oh yes! cellphone charms! coming very soon to the shop as soon as I get the graphics and products uploaded! I’ll also have a ton of new buttans! I’m still working on the Pixel doll tut and should have that up soon along with some Nihongo practice sheets you can download, print and use in 日本語のクラス !!
